well, I've done it ...

Today, I’ve signed a contract with Ventura Press to publish my second book CROW

I can’t tell you (but I will!) how excited I am. My thanks go out to my agent Irina Dunn, and Jane Curry - CEO of Ventura Press, the leading independent publishing house in Sydney. And of course, I am grateful to author Fiona McIntosh who kick started this unquenchable thirst for writing - in a masterclass in 2020. Published author Denise Picton deserves a mention for our long weekly emails to each other.

Some of my loyal followers will know that I’ve been banging on about Crow for years. It is definitely the favourite of my four books. Set in the southern highlands of Tasmania, it’s a twisty saga of a family caught out by past indiscretions. I like to think I may have borrowed from Jane Harper’s skill of dropping the reader into a place that is romantic, small town and quintessentially Tasmania.

Jane tells me Ventura is aiming for a release date sometime in September of this year. I have lots of learning and working ahead of me and am so grateful to be starting this longed-for exciting ride with her and her team’s guidance.

The photo attached to this blog is of my family (including dogs; the McCoy clan is doggy mad). They are the ones (the humans, but also Rueban - our faithful cavvie) who put up with me going on and on about my writing and always believed I could do it. Thanks particularly to Keith who walks alongside me each morning, while I am in dialogue with my characters.

Bring it on!

Rhonda McCoy
